The Compound Restaurant · Canyon Road
The Compound is chef-owner Mark Kiffin's fine-dining room on Canyon Road, built on French technique since he took it over 25 years ago. Kiffin won a James Beard Best Chef Southwest award, and Pasatiempo has covered the kitchen across multiple reviews. The menu changes with the season, and the crispy buttermilk onion rings recur as a starter. Ask for the current seasonal menu and start with the onion rings.
Clafoutis · Cordova
Clafoutis is Anne-Laure and Philippe Ligier's French bakery-cafe on West Cordova Road, a Santa Fe Reporter regular for its crepes and breakfast. Four-time James Beard Award-winning author Cheryl Jamison likened a visit to a quick trip to France. Come for a savory crepe or the classic French breakfast plate with a fresh-baked croissant, and linger over the coffee.
Mille · Alameda
Mille is Stephanie and Marcel Remillieux's French cafe and creperie downtown on West Alameda Street, in the former Bouche Bistro space it took over in 2021. The Santa Fe Reporter covered it alongside the city's other creperies for its laminated pastries and crepes. Order a laminated croissant or a sweet or savory crepe, whichever the counter is turning out that morning.
